AGMC has demonstrated its support for environmentally friendly solutions and innovations that boost economic growth by partnering with the upcoming World Green Economy Summit (WGES), to be held in Dubai.

As official Transportation Partner, AGMC will provide a fleet of 50 BMW 7 Series cars to transport VIPs and high-level visitors and delegates to and from the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

Taking place from 20-21 October, the WGES is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President Prime Minister of UAE and The Ruler of Dubai, in cooperation with the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

In a further display of AGMC’s commitment to green mobility solutions and technologies, on display during WGES will be an all-electric BMW i3s, which was recently launched in the region. Visitors will be able to view the car and find out more about its exceptional performance and zero emission technology.

A global e-mobility pioneer, BMW Group will reach its target of having a total of 25 electrified models available to motorists around the world by 2023, two years earlier than planned. More than half of the 25 models will be fully electric, with the rest a mix of plug-in hybrid vehicles.

The leading global forum for the green economy, the Dubai edition of WGES will bring together world-class experts from critical sectors to focus on advancing the green economy and sustainability agenda.

Organised by Dubai Electricity & Water Authority and World Green Economy Organisation, the event will drive dialogue and build partnerships by connecting creative minds across different sectors to help address the world’s current and future economic and environmental needs.

The release of the BMW i3s in the Middle East was an integral part of BMW’s plans to increase its share of the global e-mobility market and to raise awareness of environmental issues, reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability in the transport sector.

In 2017, BMW sold 100,000 electric vehicles globally with this figure rising to 140,000 the following year. The company has ambitious targets to have more than 500,000 fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles on the road by the end of 2019.

The world’s best-selling electrically powered premium compact vehicle, the BMW i3 represents a growing global consumer trend towards advanced e-mobility and moves by the industry to extend the performance and desirability of zero emission vehicles.

Ayhan Olcer, Chief Executive Officer of AGMC, said: “AGMC is delighted to play such an important role in supporting the work being carried out by the international attendees and delegates at the World Green Economy Summit.

“The automotive industry is braced to become a major player in the global green economy as the world moves towards full electrification of our mobility needs.

“In the very near future, The majority of the vehicles vehicle on the road will be electrically powered and zero emission, and visitors to WGES will be able to see the latest innovations in environmentally-friendly transport in the form of the BMW i3s, which has had a hugely successful launch in the region.

“The motor car will be displayed as an example of what can be achieved if innovation is supported and technology and advanced design are embraced. As the move to full e-mobility picks up pace, electric vehicles such as the BMW i3s will become a far more common sight on our roads and highways.”
