The ceremony embodies the close relationship between the two brotherly countries coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Sheikh Zayed’s birthday.
A Rahbani Dream Night” a tribute from Lebanon to the Humanity and Civilization of the UAE based on justice, love, tolerance and success.
Dubai, October 30, 2018: Lebanon’s Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, H.E Assaf Doumit, announced the onset of a cultural and artistic ceremony to be held by the Lebanese Consulate General and the Lebanese community in the UAE next month under the slogan “Lebanon and the UAE…Fidelity and Dedication”. The event announced at a press conference today, will mark Lebanon’s 75th Independence Day and the 47th national day of the UAE.
H.E Doumit said that “The slogan of Lebanon and the UAE… Fidelity and Dedication” reflects the close relationship between the two brotherly countries based on an interactive correlation and the principles of the slogan. Lebanon has embodied these values in keeping with its healthy relations with the UAE and the GCC. On a government and community level, fidelity and dedication are virtues which the UAE has cherished since its establishment and has dedicated initiatives for the benefit of the citizens and residents of the UAE as well the Arab community at large. Lebanon has been at the forefront of the beneficiaries and has received much of the UAE’s aid and patronage”.
The Lebanese consul general unveiled the ceremony to be held in conjunction with the UAE’s ongoing initiatives that are being held as a part of Year of Zayed celebrations. H.E Doumit further stated that “The late His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan was a great leader who ensured a strong foundation for this country, the UAE along with his brothers who are now the present rulers. It is due to his vision and efforts that the UAE is on the global map in record time.
He added that “The ceremony, titled A Rahbani Night Dream, will be held at the Dubai Opera on 25 November 2018, and is a fitting tribute to the two countries through the medium of art and culture. These national initiatives will be supervised by Marwan Ghadi and Osama Al Rahbani, who represent a great artistic family with a rich heritage. This has been commenced earlier by Assi and Mansour Al Rahbani and has continued through the second distinguished generation of the Rahbani family.
H.E Doumit took the opportunity to thank the UAE and Lebanese Ministries of Foreign Affairs for supporting the ceremony. He specially conveyed his gratitude to H.E Mona Ghanem Al Marri, the Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, for her enthusiasm and ideation for the execution of the ceremony. The Consul general of Lebanon also thanked H.E Helal Al Marri, Director General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai, for providing the necessary facilities.
He also praised the support provided by sponsoring companies, media and advertising institutions and the associations of Lebanese university graduates, and all members of the Lebanese community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
A Rahbani Night Dream is a concert performed by 100 artists at the Dubai Opera, led by Lebanese international artist Heba Tawaji and singers Simon Obeid and Elie Khayyat with a large choir of singers, accompanied by the Kiev Symphony Orchestra led by Maestro Valdimer Shaikou, the oriental instruments band from Lebanon, as well as a piano performance by Osama Al Rahbani and literary entries by Ghadi Al Rahbani.
Recalling a beautiful past, the ceremony shows the finest artistic and lyrical work of the Rahbanian school including national anthems and folk, classical and emotional songs, while adhering to the technical and innovative development of a beautiful present that epitomises a definite and continuous extension of the future, through two chapters that are interspersed with a short break.
At the announcement press conference, the general supervisor and Artistic Director of “A Rahbani Night Dream”, Marwan Mansour Al Rahbani, expressed his happiness that the Lebanese community in the UAE are getting an opportunity to share and celebrate their Independence Day of “the homeland of man, thought and civilization”.
He added: “We are very happy because we have two feasts and two joys. The Independence Day of Lebanon coincides with the National Day of the UAE, a country that has been open to all the Lebanese and other communities as well. The UAE has graciously made us a part of the foundation and the pillars of this great country with its leaders and people”.
Marwan Al Rahbani praised the UAE’s generosity, and he described it as the country of opportunity, success, justice, love and tolerance. He also praised the UAE’s patronage, especially to the Lebanese, in all their colours, affiliations and communities.
He stated that, “The special and grand occasion this year is our celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of late His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the wise and visionary leader who dreamed and achieved his dream and aspiration. The dream and aspiration were for a futuristic country, on the government and community levels”.
Mr. Marwan also stressed how HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan has been so wise and a safety net for his countrymen and how much he is missed today.
Artist Osama Al-Rahbani said: “A Rahbani Night Dream will be the most beautiful and true meeting with the masses, and on the best occasion – the Independence Day of Lebanon and the National Day of the UAE. We will celebrate these joyous milestone occasions with the tunes of the Rahbanian music that transcends humanity. The wonderful and distinctive voices of the performers will share the happiness and festivities of the event that underscores loyalty and generosity with the audiences”.
“Dubai has a special place in my heart”, said Ghadi Rahbani, who is delighted to be part of the event. “The event is on the day of “fidelity and dedication” and marking the two momentous occasions. How beautiful to perform at the Dubai Opera, where two innovations meet; a Rahbani innovation and the glorious UAE innovation, embodied by a night of infinite joy and beautiful stars.
Says Heba Tawaji, a star of A Rahbani Night Dream, “I am very happy to participate in a Rahbani Night Dream, especially since it will see my first performance at the Dubai Opera and I look forward to contributing to this great state of the art program, which has been re-distributed and prepared in a wonderful and innovative way coinciding with the special and cherished occasions”.
“It is a great honour to perform at the Dubai Opera and contribute to a national ceremony that brings together two brotherly countries and friends who have promised to work together with all love and honesty”, said singer Elie Khayyat. “The event will be a night highlighting the Lebanese loyalty to the Rahbani art and the people of the UAE”, Elie added.
Singer Simon Obaid said: “I am happy to participate in A Rahbani Night Dream, as I will be able to sing in one day for Lebanon, my homeland and for Dubai, my second country. My performance in the ceremony will be a tribute to the UAE, its leaders and its people”.
