Guerlain is so proud to see all the love for bees shared widely. As a result of this one-of-a-kind collaboration between Guerlain muse Angelina Jolie and National Geographic, our collaborative efforts have drawn a great deal of attention to such an important cause that we are all so passionate about: BEES.

National Geographic’s exclusive World Bee Day interview with Angelina Jolie drove over 2.5 Billion impressions and (off and online) counting across the globe. In an exclusive interview and stunning photo shoot, Jolie speaks out about joining forces with Guerlain and UNESCO on our state of the art “Women for Bees” Programme; addressing the importance of bee conservation, its impact on human security, and the vital role of women in biodiversity.  In an effort to show the beauty and importance of bees in our environment, photographer and beekeeper Dan Winters captured images of Jolie, covered in a swarm of bees, bringing attention to bees and beekeepers everywhere.

A dedicated humanitarian and UNHCR Special Envoy for over two decades, Jolie has also spent seventeen years supporting local communities in Cambodia in their efforts to combat the deforestation and illegal logging that threaten bees, other wildlife and the ecosystem as a whole, through a foundation in the name of her eldest son Maddox. Her role as the Godmother of the Women for Bees initiative builds on this record.

Women For Bees aims to offer women social and economic emancipation through an expertise-driven and sustainable livelihood. By 2025, the programme aims to build 2,500 hives within 25 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves and restock 125 million bees. The 50 women to graduate by 2025 will be trained and supported in establishing their own beekeeping operations.

To coincide with World Bee Day GUERLAIN mobilised its communities and the worldwide general public to unite by its side in commitment and action. Its goal is to raise up to one million euros towards strengthening the Guerlain For Bees Conservation Programme, featuring six House partnerships and initiatives dedicated to bees. Follow @guerlain and stay tuned for the final results.
